Citronella oil is obtained from the leaves and stems of different species of Cymbopogon Nardus (lemongrass). It's widely used as a fragrance and flavoring agent throughout the world and is also a plant-based insect repellent that has been registered for this use in the US since 1948.
Lemongrass (aka Cymbopogon Citratus) is a tropical, grassy plant used in cooking and herbal medicine. The essential oil extracted from this plant has a powerful, citrus scent that smells quite lovely to humans, but naturally repels bugs.
Peppermint oil comes from the peppermint plant. It has a wide variety of uses, but we use it as a natural deterrent against mosquitoes and flying insects.
Soybean oil is a vegetable oil extracted from the seeds of the soybean (Glycine max). It is one of the most widely consumed cooking oils, but also happens to be helpful for repelling bugs!
Thyme oil is derived from thyme (Thymus vulgaris), a perennial herb that belongs to the mint family. It's often used in aromatherapy and cooking, but it's also a natural insect repellent.
Zinc Oxide is a white mineral that's the only FDA approved sunscreen ingredient that protects against all 3 types of UV rays (UVB, UVA2, and UVA1) all by itself. Ours is non-nano.
Zinc Oxide is a white mineral that helps protect baby’s sensitive skin from contact with damp and dirty diapers. It also helps reduce and prevent redness and soothe the skin. Ours is non-nano zinc oxide.
It should come as no surprise, but this is made from the dried juice of the Aloe Vera plant. It acts as a conditioning agent for softening your laundry.
Extracted from the leaves of the aloe vera plant, a good source of vitamins, minerals and amino acids, Aloe is renowned for its moisturizing and soothing properties.
Arachidyl alcohol, is a waxy, fatty alcohol made via the hydrogenation of rapeseed, wheat, corn, and manioc (all non-GMO). It acts as an emollient that softens and soothes skin.
A mild surfactant (cleansing) and emulsifying (mixing) agent, made from the condensation of arachidyl alcohol and glucose – all sourced from non-GMO rapeseed, wheat, corn and manioc.
Also known as the Davana plant, this tall perennial shrub’s flowers are used to create an essential oil admired for its long-lasting, sweet and fruity aroma.
Behenyl alcohol is a saturated fatty alcohol that is used as an emollient, emulsifier and thickener in personal care products. It is not related to irritating forms of alcohol. Ours is derived from non-GMO wheat, corn, manioc, and rapeseed oil.
Butyloctyl salicylate is the nature-identical ester of salicylic acid which is naturally found in willow tree bark. It functions as an emollient and moisturizer, helps with spreadability, and also enhances the SPF protection in sunscreens.
Tamanu oil is cold pressed from the nut of Calophyllum inophyllum tree and is considered to be one of the most active of all plant oils. It’s easily absorbed, rich in fatty acids, and well known for its skin nourishing properties.
An extract of the leaves of the tea plant camellia sinensis (commonly referred to as green tea extract), among many other things, this ingredient helps bind moisture to the skin.
Caprylhydroxamic acid is an amino acid (organic compounds that are essential building blocks of life) derived from coconut oil. It’s a gentle preservative that ensures product safety and longevity.
This oil pressed from the safflower seeds is high in vitamin E and contains omega-6 fatty acids – making it a healthy choice for cooking as well as skin. No wonder its popularity dates back to the Egyptian pharaohs!
Cetearyl Alcohol is a mixture of fatty alcohols used as a stabilizer to thicken a formula and keep it from separating. Ours is derived from rapeseed, wheat, corn and manioc plants (all non-GMO).
Derived from olive oil, cetearyl olivate is an emulsifier (helping blend ingredients together) and skin conditioning agent that also gives products a smooth and luxurious feel.
Cetyl palmitate is a fatty wax derived from palm oil fatty acids that helps moisturize, hydrate, and condition skin while reducing the greasy feel of the cream. Ours come from Certified RSPO palm.
Derived from the fatty acids of coconut oil, this is a very mild alternative to sulfates that cleanses and conditions skin, while also boosting foam without stripping away natural oils from the skin.
Coconut Oil is an edible oil obtained from the dried inner flesh of the coconut, Cocos nucifera. It's a great moisturizer and helps create a protective layer on the skin.
Saponified means literally, “turned into soap." In this case, organic coconut oil is transformed into soap through a chemical reaction with potassium hydroxide (also known as "lye").
Naturally found in the humble cucumber, this extract has high quantities of vitamin C and amino acids which are known to help nourish, hydrate, and soothe skin.
This natural, essential oil is extracted from palmarosa, a wild herbaceous grass native to India, Africa and Indonesia and it has a lovely rose-like scent.
Derived from castor and plant oils, diheptyl succinate is a lightweight, emollient texture enhancer that is an alternative to silicones in cosmetic products. It works well with natural oils to reduce their greasiness and tackiness and make them feel nicer on the skin.
Gluconolactone is derived from gluconic acid, a substance naturally produced by mammals, but can also be produced from corn for commercial purposes. It's very mild and helps protect and hydrate the skin.
Derived from RSPO palm oil and non-GMO rapeseed oil, glycerin is a rich humectant, emollient and lubricant which allows moisturizers to draw and absorb water from the air helping skin retain moisture.
Glyceryl Caprylate is made up of glycerol and caprylic acid, both of which are derived from palm or coconut oil. The end result, Glyceryl Caprylate, is an emulsifier and skin conditioning agent.
Glyceryl stearate is derived from coconut and vegetable sources and is used in skin care products as a lubricant for the skin’s surface helping make skin soft and smooth. It also slows the loss of water from the skin by forming a barrier on the skin’s surface.
Quillaja saponaria (from the soap bark tree), jojoba, and coconut combine to make this natural soap that acts as an emulsifier keeping all of the other ingredients from separating (because water and oil don't like to mix.)
Hexenyl acetate occurs naturally in things like green leaves and olive oil. The compound is used as a fragrance ingredient for its green, fruity, apple-ish scent.
Palm oil comes from the fruit of the palm tree (Elaeis guineensis). Hydrogenation turns the oil from a liquid into a solid or semi-solid substance, as well as making the oil more stable. Ours is Certified RSPO.
Hydrolyzed Oats are a liquidized form of whole oats which act as a humectant absorbing moisture from the air and transferring it to the skin, providing deep hydration. Also, the hydrolyzed oats make the lotion feel velvety smooth with no residual tackiness or greasy feeling.
Hydroxyacetophenone is a lab-synthesized, nature-identical compound that's GRAS and a recognized EPA Safer Choice Cleangredient. In nature, it's found in herbs like "Lampaya Hieronymi" native to Latin America and "Rubus Chamaemorus" found in the Alpine region. In our wipes, it functions as an anti-irritant, antioxidant, and preservative booster.
Hydroxyethylcellulose is a gelling and thickening agent derived from cellulose, which is a naturally occurring component found in the cell walls of plants. It also forms a nourishing layer on the skin.
Kaolin is a versatile mineral clay that’s been used for pottery, in foods, and for skin care for thousands of years. In our bath bombs, it helps gently cleanse and stimulate skin.
Lonicera japonica is a plant native to East Asia and widely used in traditional Chinese medicine, foods, and tea. In our laundry detergent, the extract helps boost the preservative system.
This ingredient is derived from pine rosin, or the sap of conifer trees. It helps make the sunscreen water-resistant and also helps ensure that the protective minerals are evenly dispersed.
Cellulose is an important component of the cell walls of green plants and the ultra-fine powdered, commercial version is used as a helper ingredient that gives a super-silky, soft touch, and reduces tackiness or greasiness.
Pressed from the pulp surrounding the pit of an avocado, this extract has a healthy ratio of saturated and unsaturated fats that soften, moisturize, and condition skin and hair.
Polysorbate 20 is derived from sorbitol, a sugar alcohol and while it's approved as a food additive, in personal care products it functions as a surfactant and emulsifier.
Apricot kernel oil is extracted from seeds of Apricot ( Prunus armeniaca ). It's a light and moisturizing emollient that absorbs quickly and easily into the skin. It is rich in vitamin E and linoleic acid making it nourishing and healing to dry or sensitive skin.
Soap berries, or soap nuts, are dried fruit berries from the trees of the Himalayan Sapindus Mukorossi. Their outer shells contain saponin, which creates a natural soap when agitated in water.
Derived from the seeds of the desert shrub, Simmondsia chinensis, Jojoba seed oil closely resembles the skin’s natural sebum so it absorbs quickly and deeply into the skin and protects the skin with long lasting moisture care.
Sodium Benzoate is a common preservative used in foods and personal care products that's a great alternative to parabens and formaldehyde releasers. It's a salt of Benzoic Acid, found naturally in cranberries, prunes, plums, cinnamon, ripe cloves, and apples.
Made by fermentation of glucose (sugar), this helps to prevent discoloration or rancidity of the formula. It can also be a pH regulator and a humectant (helps skin to cling onto water).
Sodium methyl cocoyl taurate is derived from coconut fatty acid. It's a surfactant, which means it lets water and oil to mix, allowing things to become clean, as well as being a foaming agent.
Derived from RSPO palm, this is an amino acid-based emulsifier that helps water and oil to mix and stay that way, as well as acting as a skin conditioner.
Derived from soybean and rapeseed oils; tocopherol is a form of vitamin E that helps rejuvenates, soften, soothe, and protect skin while also helping preserve the product. Ours comes from non-GMO plants.
Vitamin E derived from sunflower seeds, tocopherol is a potent antioxidant preserving the product and helping to prevent free radical damage on the skin.
This ingredient is an extract of the fruit (bean) of the vanilla plant, Vanilla planifolia. It's used primarily as a natural fragrance, but the vanilla plant is also a source of catechins (also known as polyphenols), which are soothing to the skin.
Xanthan gum is a food-grade ingredient created when sugar is fermented by a type of bacteria called Xanthomonas campestris. It helps thicken and stabilize the formula.
Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil is the oil obtained from the ripe fruit of Olea europaea and is a very gentle and nourishing moisturizer that helps comfort sensitive skin.

Arrowroot powder is a natural powdered root starch that activates the skin’s ability to absorb moisture and leaves skin feeling silky and smooth. Plus, it has natural deodorizing properties.

Chaparral is a botanical extract of the woody shrub known as creosote bush (Larrea tridentata) and it is well known for its antioxidant and soothing effects.
Abyssinian Seed Oil, or Crambe Abyssinica Seed Oil comes from a mustard plant native to the Mediterranean region. It has conditioning and moisturizing properties and is easily absorbed without feeling sticky, greasy, or heavy.
1,2-hexanediol is a synthetic preservative that also acts as a mild moisturising agent and is used in baby care products as a safer substitute for traditional preservatives.
Considered a “helper ingredient,” this biodegradable chelator helps to neutralize metal ions (often found in water) to help preserve the product and performance.
Phenethyl alcohol is found in some essential oils, in food, spices and more. When it’s isolated for use in body care products, it helps prevent bacterial growth, as well as adding to the fragrance.
Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer is a synthetic polymer used as a film-former and opacifier. It helps with product performance and appearance, but doesn’t penetrate skin because it has large molecules.
Polyglyceryl-3 laurate is derived from lauric acid (found in coconut and palm oil) and it helps with conditioning, moisturizing, cleansing, and emulsifying.
3-Hexenol (also known as leaf alcohol) is found in small amounts in many plants. Commercially, it’s used in fragrances for its scent of fresh, green grass.
Delta-decalactone is a molecule naturally found in a wide variety of plants and foods like apricot, butter, coconut, mango, and peach. Once isolated, it has a coconut-ish flavor and scent.
Raspberry ketone is one of 200 molecules found in raspberries that give them their unique flavor and taste. This particular molecule is often used in fragrances for its fresh, berry scent.
Polyglyceryl-10 Stearate is a palm-based, PEG-free emulsifying ingredient whose job is to help water and oil to mix nicely together. It also helps moisturize and soften skin and hair.
Polyglyceryl-6 Distearate is a vegetable derived emulsifying ingredient whose job is to help water and oils to mix nicely together. It’s also a conditioning and moisturizing agent that leaves hair feeling smooth with no greasiness or tackiness.

Tetrasodium glutamate diacetate is made from L-glutamic acid (a bio-based, renewable material). It’s a water softener that can also boost the effectiveness of preservatives, allowing for the use of lower amounts than is typical without compromising effectiveness.
Sodium Hydroxide is created via electrolysis of sodium chloride (aka salt). It’s used to cause a chemical reaction with other ingredients and none actually remains in the finished formula because a new ingredient has been formed.
Tapioca starch (aka tapioca flour) is a popular, gluten-free flour made from the starch of cassava root. In body care products, it acts as a thickener and texture enhancer.
o-Cymen-5-ol is a common constituent of essential oils, but is created synthetically for commercial purposes. It’s an antifungal preservative used in personal care products to prevent harmful bacteria from developing. It’s used at extremely low levels – just enough to be effective, but still safe for sensitive skin.
Sodium cocoyl glycinate is derived from coconut oil and the amino acid glycine. It’s a cleansing agent and skin-softening ingredient that also helps boost bubbles and foaminess.
Sunflower seed wax is a vegetable wax obtained from the winterization of sunflower oil. It helps regulate consistency, has film forming properties, and provides lubricity.
Sodium citrate is the sodium salt of citric acid and is commonly known as sour salt. It’s mainly used as a food additive, but also helps with product preservation in our detergent.
